Youth Orchestra
Samuel Garrett
Sam Garrett is a senior at Webster Groves High School and is playing in his second season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He began playing the cello at age 6 at Webster University’s Community Music School (CMS), receiving inspiration from his grandmother, a cellist and founding member of her local Ozark Festival Orchestra.
Outside of the YO, Garrett has played in many ensembles, primarily at CMS, including the Young People’s Concert Orchestra and the Preparatory Program. Garrett also participated in the Missouri All-State Orchestra in 2026. When he’s not playing cello, Garrett enjoys playing volleyball, playing board games, biking, and watching movies.
Garrett would like to thank the dedicated cello instructors that have made his musical journey possible: Tara Santiago, his high school orchestra director Andrew Pulliam, and current instructor David Kim.
