Kanon Ogura

Kanon Ogura is a 6th grader at Wydown Middle School. She studies with Joo Kim. 

Ogura made her solo debut with the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at Webster University’s Community Music School after winning its Concerto Competition. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Alton Symphony Orchestra through the Deborah Fox Guild Competition and with the Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra through the Stars of Tomorrow Competition. She won the 2025 Music Teachers National Association’s (MTNA) Missouri State Junior Strings Competition and was subsequently named Alternate Winner of the MTNA West Central Division. Most recently, Ogura was selected to perform with violinist Ray Chen and the New Japan Philharmonic at the 2026 Play with Ray concert in Tokyo. 

Ogura was a member of a piano quartet with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis during the 2025–2026 season and enjoys chamber music. 

Outside of music, Ogura is fascinated by reptiles—especially snakes—and even keeps one as a pet at home. She is grateful to her teacher and family for their guidance and support.
