Lindbergh High School

The 2023-2024 season is Abby Deeter’s first year with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She is a junior at Lindbergh High School and has been playing the cello for seven years. As a freshman, she was principal for the St Louis All Suburban Honors Orchestra, as a Sophomore she was honored to play in the Missouri All-State Orchestra, and she currently plays for Lindbergh’s Symphony Orchestra and her school’s performing group, Strolling Strings.

She has also been a member of The Webster Community Music schools YPSO and YPCO groups. She really enjoys playing in the pit for her high school’s musical theater productions. Outside of playing her cello, Abby loves playing Ultimate Frisbee and spending time with her family, especially her identical twin.

There are many people Abby would like to thank for their contributions to her musical development. First, she would like to express her gratitude to Kurt Baldwin, her private instructor, for pushing her to become a better musician and guiding her through countless auditions. She would also like to thank Tara Landers, her current high school orchestra director, and Michelle Howard, her guide through various fiddle music, for supporting her within an orchestral setting and their respective performing groups. Abby would also like to thank Jo Ellen Lyons, her first private instructor who will always hold a special place in Abby’s heart. Finally, Abby would like to say thank you to her amazing family for supporting her love of music and for driving her to countless rehearsals and lessons over the years.
