Ellie Chen

Ellie Chen started playing the cello at the age of seven, studying with Ken Kulosa. She was born in Coralville, Iowa, and was raised in St. Louis. She attends school at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS), and is a rising sophomore at 14.

Besides practicing the cello, Ellie also enjoys practicing the piano and the flute.

This is Ellie’s first year attending the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, though she has been a part of the Young People’s Symphonic and Concert Orchestra at the Community Music School of Webster University in the past, as well as Allstate in her freshman year.
