Shang Jiang
Shang Jiang is a rising senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School starting his first season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Shang started his musical journey at the age of 6 playing piano before he discovered his passion for flute at 14 under the guidance of Nadine Hur. Shang is the principal flutist of Ladue’s Symphonic Band and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He was the principal flutist of the Webster University Community Music School Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra as well as assistant-director of their 2024 Flute Camp. Shang also studied chamber music in the CMS Preparatory program. Beyond music, Shang enjoys calisthenics, weightlifting, policy debate, and video games
Shang is deeply grateful to those who have supported him on his musical journey. He would like to thank Katie Solomon for introducing him to the flute world and thanks his band teachers, Lucas Alberts and Aaron Lehde. Above all, He credits his exceptional flute teacher, Nadine Hur, for nurturing his talent with unwavering support. He extends heartfelt thanks to his parents, brother, and friends for their continuous encouragement and belief in his musical endeavors.
