Luke Tung

Thomas Jefferson School

Luke is a 13-year-old rising freshman at Thomas Jefferson School. This is his first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Luke began playing violin with the Suzuki program from Community Music School of Webster University at age of 6 under David Liu, and then Rose Martin until she retired, and for the past two years, he has been studying with Angie Smart of the SLSO.

Luke has participated in the Suzuki Ensemble, String Ensemble, String Orchestra, the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra (YPSO), the Chamber Music Pilot Program of CMS, and the University of Missouri St. Louis Orchestra.

In his free time, Luke enjoys playing basketball, biking, reading, board games, and spending time with family and friends. He was also the President of the National Junior Honor Society at his middle school.

Luke would like to thank all his teachers for their instruction and inspiring him to be the musician he is today. He is also very grateful for his parents and his brother, Alex, for all their support.
