Reid Huntley
Reid Huntley is a rising senior at Eureka High School. He began learning the viola at the age of nine under the tutelage of Dr. Nicole Cramer, and currently studies with Professor Joanna Mendoza of the Arianna String Quartet.
Huntley is entering his second year as a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. At Eureka High School, he serves as president of the Orchestra Student Board and performs in the Symphonic Orchestra. He has been selected for the Missouri All-State Orchestra in 2024 and 2025.
A passionate chamber musician, Huntley has been a participant in the Preparatory Program at the Community Music School of Webster University since 2022. Through this program, he co-founded the Lyra Quartet, which was a finalist in the 2025 St. Paul String Quartet Competition. This year, he is a member of the Chamber Academy, a program founded by the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis. In 2024, Huntley was named a Rader Young Artist for CMSSL’s 2024-2025 season.
In the summer of 2024, Huntley participated in the Arianna Chamber Music Festival and MacPhail’s Madeline Island Chamber Music for Strings. This past summer, he returned to both ACMF and MICM, and was a participant in the inaugural Addicott Chamber Music Festival at Indiana University South Bend, where he worked closely with the Euclid, Calidore, and Dover Quartets.
Huntley is deeply grateful to Professor Joanna Mendoza for her unwavering support and mentorship. He also thanks Dr. Nicole Cramer, Mary White, Vera Parkin, Davin Rubicz, Laura Holzen, the Arianna String Quartet, and his friends and family for their continued encouragement.
Outside of music, Huntley enjoys spending time with friends, discovering good food, and birdwatching
