Youth Orchestra
Samuel Garrett
Samuel Garrett, age 16, will be a junior attending Webster Groves High School this fall. He is looking forward to his first season playing with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Inspired by his cellist brother and grandmother, Garrett began playing the cello at age five. He has studied with Tara Santiago for ten years and will begin receiving lessons from David Kim this fall. He is the principal cellist in the Statesmen string ensemble at Webster Groves High School and has earned several gold ratings at the state solo and ensemble competition.
Garrett began his orchestral pursuits at the Webster University Community Music School, where he progressed from String Ensemble to Young People’s Concert Orchestra. He has also participated in the Preparatory Program at CMS. During the summer, Garrett has enjoyed playing at Credo St. Louis. Outside of playing the cello, Garrett plays volleyball, both at the high school and club level, and enjoys traveling with his family.
Garrett would like to extend thanks to all the wonderful people who have supported him, including his family, friends, and instructors Tara Santiago and Andrew Pulliam.
