Aiden Moon
Aiden Moon is a senior at Parkway Central High School. Before he began to play the violin, Moon first studied piano, beginning when he was 5 years old. He started learning the violin at the age of 8 and currently studies with Joo Kim of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
Moon has been a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra for five seasons and is a mentor in the Gateway Music Outreach’s Peer-to-Peer program. Last season, Moon served as a co-principal second violinist and appeared as a soloist with the SLSYO as the 2025 YO Concerto Competition winner.
He is currently in his school’s Symphonic Orchestra and was also a member of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Missouri All-State orchestras. Additionally, he has studied chamber music in the Preparatory Program at Webster University, recently winning the Audience Prize at the St. Paul String Quartet Competition as a violinist with the Raemonia Quartet. This year, he will be studying at the Chamber Academy with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis.
In his freshman year, Moon won first prize in the Rising Talents Concerto Competition, the Stars of Tomorrow competition, and the Florence Frager Young Artist competition, thus appearing as a soloist with the Town and Country Symphony Orchestra, the Belleville Philharmonic, and the St. Louis Civic Orchestra, respectively. In the summer of 2023, Moon studied at the Meadowmount School of Music under the direction of pedagogues Paul Kantor and I-Hao Lee. Moon also soloed with the Alton Symphony Orchestra, the University of Missouri – St. Louis Orchestra, and the University City Symphony Orchestra as the first place winner of their corresponding concerto competitions. In the summer of 2024, Moon was invited to solo with the Gateway Festival Orchestra as their featured young artist of the season. Last year, Moon served as a Rader Young Artist with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, performing multiple preludes for the organization, and won an Honorable Mention in the 2024 MTNA Senior String Division.
Apart from violin, he is a black belt in Taekwondo, solves Rubik’s cubes, and loves to read mystery books. Moon is incredibly grateful for the endless and dedicated support of his family and all his teachers.
