Claire Kim

Ladue Horton Watkins High School

Claire Kim, 14, is a rising freshman at Ladue Horton Watkins High School and a violinist in her first season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  

She began playing the violin at age five at the Illinois String Academy, part of the University of Illinois’s School of Music. Her teachers have included Dr. Aaron Jacobs and Xiaoxiao Qiang of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.  

During her time at Ladue Middle School, Claire served as co-concertmaster. She also performed with the school’s Honors Orchestra and the All-Suburban Orchestra. Claire has also performed as a student substitute member with the Metropolitan Orchestra of Saint Louis.  

When not playing the violin, Claire enjoys a variety of pursuits, including reading, writing fiction, drawing, and swimming.
