Youth Orchestra
Elizabeth Smith
Elizabeth is 16 years old and is currently a junior at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. This is her 1st year participating in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra (SLSYO). She began playing viola at the Omaha Conservatory of Music (OCM) at the age of 6, and currently studies with Professor Leslie Perna. She has served as principal violist in the Missouri Academy of Music (MAM), Missouri Symphony (MOSY) Conservatory, and the Rock Bridge High School orchestras. She has been an active chamber musician in the Redbud Quartet for the past five years, has participated in the Esterhazy Chamber Seminar for the past two years, and has been a finalist in Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) competition. Elizabeth also works with City of Refuge to share her joy of music and provide lessons to children in refugee families.
Aside from viola, Elizabeth loves drawing and experimenting with different art styles and mediums. She is also an avid reader and enjoys singing with her sisters. She would like to thank her teacher, her friends, and especially her family who shares her love of music by playing alongside her and being a constant support to her throughout the years.
