Elizabeth Smith
Elizabeth Smith is 17 years old and is a senior at Rock Bridge High School. She began playing viola at the Omaha Conservatory of Music (OCM) at the age of 6, and currently studies with Professor Leslie Perna.
She has served as principal violist in the Missouri Academy of Music (MAM), Missouri Symphony (MOSY) Conservatory, and the Rock Bridge High School orchestras. She has also been an active chamber musician in the Redbud Quartet for the past six years and has participated in the Saint Paul Chamber Music Seminar with the Jasper quartet this past summer, as well as the Esterhazy Chamber Seminar for two years. Additionally, she has been a finalist in Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) competition, and earlier this year performed the Stamitz viola concerto with orchestra as the winner of the MMAMTA/Odyssey precollegiate concerto competition. Smith also works with City of Refuge to share her joy of music and provide lessons to children in refugee families.
Aside from viola, Smith loves drawing and experimenting with different styles and mediums with her art. She is also an avid reader. She would like to thank her teacher, her friends, and especially her family, who share her love of music by playing alongside her and being a constant support to her throughout the years.
