Youth Orchestra

Iris Wang

John Burroughs School

Iris is a junior at John Burroughs School and this is her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Iris was introduced to the violin in fourth grade through her school orchestra program, and started taking lessons when she was 10 years old. She has been playing for nearly 7 years, and has studied with Joo Kim for the past year. Iris has previously played with the Young People’s Symphonic and Concert Orchestras, as well as the String Orchestra, at the Community Music School of Webster University. She served as principal second violin of the YPSO during the 2023-24 season.

In her free time, Iris enjoys reading, drawing, dance, and food-related activities.

Iris would like to thank her current teacher, Joo Kim, as well as her past teachers Erin Schreiber, Dana Myers, and Nora Teipen, her orchestra directors, and her parents for all their support throughout her musical journey.
