Youth Orchestra

Iris Wang

John Burroughs School

Iris Wang is a senior at John Burroughs School and this is her second season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Wang was introduced to the violin in fourth grade through her school orchestra program and started taking lessons when she was 10 years old. She has been playing for nearly 8 years and has studied with Joo Kim for the past 2 years. Wang has previously played with the Young People’s Symphonic and Concert Orchestras, as well as the String Orchestra, at the Community Music School of Webster University. She served as principal second violin of the YPSO during the 2023-24 season.

Wang would like to thank her current teacher, Joo Kim, as well as her past teachers Erin Schreiber, Dana Myers, and Nora Teipen, her orchestra directors, and her parents for all their support throughout her musical journey.

In her free time, Wang enjoys reading, drawing, dance, and everything food related.
