Youth Orchestra

Jean Park

Marquette High School

Jean Park is a 15-year-old sophomore at Marquette High School and is now in her second season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She’s grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and making music with such a talented group. Park began piano at age five and switched to violin at eight. She currently studies with Pavel Ilyashov.

Park has performed in many ensembles including her school orchestra, the Young People’s Concert Orchestra (YPCO) and the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra (YPSO) at the Community Music School of Webster University. She has served as concertmaster of YPSO since 2023. In spring 2025, YPSO had the remarkable opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. She studied chamber music through the CMS Preparatory Program, participating from 2023 to 2025.

This past summer, Park participated in programs such as the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival and the Credo Chamber Music Festival St. Louis, where she had the opportunity to learn and collaborate with fellow young musicians.

Park’s musical journey includes a variety of achievements such as winning the Rising Talents Youth Concerto Competition in 2024–2025 and making her solo debut with the Town & Country Symphony Orchestra. She also participated in the 2025 Missouri All-State Orchestra. In 2023 she won the Missouri Music Teachers Association Competition in the Strings 7th–9th Grade Division and was named a Rader Young Artist by the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis.

Park serves as concertmaster of the St. Louis Youth Ambassadors Orchestra and volunteers in the community through this and other organizations. Outside of music, she enjoys writing and photography and participates in her school’s yearbook team, where she currently serves as an editor.

Park is deeply grateful to her teachers and family and most of all to God, believing none of her accomplishments would have been possible without His guidance.
