Aiden Kim

Alternate
Clayton High School

Aiden Kim, age 15, is a rising freshman at Clayton High School. The 2024/2025 season will be Aiden’s first season playing in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Aiden has been playing the Cello for almost 6 years under the guidance of Dr. Jun Seo at the Community Music School of Webster University.

Aiden started his musical journey at the age of 5 on the Piano. 4 years later, he also wanted to experience a string instrument alongside the Piano, which led him to pick up the Cello at 9 years old. Aiden has had the honor of receiving a Runner Up and Winner awards at the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) state competition in the string solo division when he was 11 and 13 respectively. He has also participated in his school’s orchestra from 12 years old where he had the opportunity to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) conference. When Aiden was 14 years old, he joined his first full size orchestra at the CMS in the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra.

Apart from playing the Cello, Aiden also enjoys hobbies such as playing the Piano, swimming on the Clayton Shaw Park Tideriders swim club, and participating in science competitions.

Aiden would like to thank Jun Seo, Vera Parkin, Carolyn Day, Daniel Henderson, his parents, and all others who have helped him on his musical journey.
