Youth Orchestra

Aiden Kim

Clayton High School

Aiden Kim, age 15, is a rising sophomore at Clayton High School. The 2025–2026 season marks his second year as a cellist in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has studied cello since the age of 10 under Dr. Jun Seo at the Community Music  School of Webster University (CMS).

Kim began his musical journey at age 6 on the piano. Four years later, inspired to explore a string instrument alongside piano, he took up the cello—a decision that has since shaped his musical path. Over the years, Kim has been recognized in the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) state competition with Honorable Mention, Runner-Up, and Winner awards in the string solo division.

He has been a dedicated member of his school orchestra since age 12, performing twice at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) conference. During his freshman year, Kim earned a spot in the Missouri All-State Orchestra and previously spent two seasons with the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra at CMS. Beyond the cello, Kim continues to play piano, swims competitively, and is active in volunteer work.

Kim would like to thank Dr. Jun Seo, Vera Parkin, Daniel Henderson, Carolyn Day, his parents, and all others who have supported and inspired him throughout his musical journey.
